Batch information
Porcelain paving is a man-made product crafted in batches and may exhibit variations in colour and texture from batch to batch. This potential variance means that the porcelain you receive upon ordering may differ slightly from the samples sent, or our showroom displays viewed before making your purchase. To maintain product consistency, we advise against combining different sizes as these will inevitably be different batch codes. It is industry standard to allow an additional 10% on all orders.
Should you have any concerns about these variations, please reach out to our sales team for personalised guidance. We recommend keeping note of the โbatch colour codeโ labelled on the packaging of the delivered porcelain. This is a white label of the side of the pallet and also the packing of each individual slab.
While we strive to source the same batch for future orders, this isnโt guaranteed. Therefore, we encourage ordering sufficient quantities initially to maintain uniformity in your project.
Split packs
Split Packs Available
We offer split packs on selected paving products, including natural stone paving (sandstone, Limestone, slate, granite) and our best-selling 600×900 porcelain paving. This allows you to order the exact square metre coverage you need, helping you avoid the cost and waste of buying a full pack.
This option is ideal forย smaller projects, patios, pathways, or topping up an existing order.
Please note:
- Split packs are available onย selected products only
- Mixed-size porcelain paving packs cannot be split
- Delivery is included in the product price
- Orders areย securely repacked onto pallets for safe UK delivery
Ordering Advice

Help & advice
Measurement
Make sure you measure from the longest point to the longest point, side to side and front to back. Use our coverage calculator to help you know what your requirement coverage is.
Add 10% Extra
The recommended industry standard is that you add 10% extra to your total measurements to allow for cuts, wastage, breakages and spares. By placing your order with us, you confirm that you have added this 10% extra as part of your own calculations and purchase.
Minimum Order
We can sell the paving by the sqm, however, for optimal transit, we recommend ordering a minimum of 5 sqm to ensure proper pallet weight.
Coverage
The coverage for each pack size is available on all products under the โSpecificationโ section. This indicates the area that can be covered, including the recommended joint width. Additionally, we provide the pack size, which indicates the number of slabs included in each pack.

About Our Natural Indian Sandstone
Consider our high-quality sandstone paving for your propertyโs exterior, whether for a natural garden patio or a pathway. Its visually appealing finish makes it suitable for both modern and traditional designs.
Our sandstone is available in both single size packs, such as 600x900mm, and mixed size patio packs, giving you flexibility in your layout and design.
We offer a diverse range of options, including naturally riven textured surfaces and smooth-honed finishes, allowing you to achieve your desired look. Sandstone is renowned for its natural veining and tonal variation, creating a rich blend of colours when laidโno two slabs are exactly alike.
Our natural finish paving slabs are hand-cut from quarried stone, giving each piece a textured riven surface with chiselled edges that add individual character. Its timeless appeal and durability make sandstone paving a popular choice among homeowners and landscaping professionals across the UK.
The sandstone is calibrated to a consistent thickness (ยฑ2โ3mm tolerance) and features a flat laying side for easier installation.
Important Considerations
All images are provided for guidance only and may show the stone in different conditions, including wet, dry, or sealed with a colour-enhancing sealer.
Please note:
Sandstone appears richer and more vibrant when wet
Dry stone displays softer, more muted tones
Lighting conditions may affect appearance
Sandstone is a natural material sourced from large quarries, and variation in colour, tone, and texture will occur from slab to slab and pack to pack. While we aim to provide an indication of colour blends, exact quantities of each tone cannot be guaranteed.
When your paving arrives, it may appear dusty and pale with minimal visible variation. We recommend unpacking and lightly wetting the slabs to reveal the true colour tones. This will help you achieve a well-balanced and natural-looking installation.
Due to the nature of natural stone, it is not possible to select specific quantities of individual colours. This variation is a key feature and adds to the overall character of the finished patio.
Sandstone is porous, and once installed, cleaned, and jointed, it will begin to weather naturally. Over time, the colour variation will develop further, enhancing the overall appearance.
Sealing is recommended after installation. Some sealers will enhance the colour and provide a richer โwet look,โ while others maintain a more natural finish, depending on your preference.
Natural Indian Sandstone Paving: A Comprehensive Overview
Indian sandstone paving is a popular choice for outdoor landscaping due to its natural beauty, durability, and versatility. Formed from compressed sand and minerals, sandstone offers a unique combination of colour, texture, and strength.
1. Aesthetic Appeal
Sandstone is available in a wide range of colours, including browns, reds, buffs, creams, and greys. This allows you to choose a style that complements your outdoor space.
Its natural patterns and tonal variation create a rustic, organic look, ensuring every paved area is unique.
2. Durability
Sandstone is a strong and long-lasting material that performs well in typical UK weather conditions, including rain, frost, and general wear.
When installed correctly, it can handle regular foot traffic and everyday use.
3. Textured Surface
Most sandstone paving features a naturally riven surface, providing slip resistance and making it ideal for patios, pathways, and pool surrounds.
4. Low Maintenance
Sandstone paving is easy to maintain. Regular cleaning with water or a mild detergent will help keep it looking fresh. Sealing can be applied to enhance colour and provide additional protection if required.
Over time, sandstone may develop a natural patina, which adds to its character.
5. Cost-Effective
Sandstone offers a premium natural stone finish at a more affordable price compared to materials such as granite or limestone.
6. Sustainable Material
As a natural product, sandstone requires minimal processing, making it an environmentally conscious choice.
7. Popular Uses
Patios and garden seating areas
Pathways and walkways
Pool surrounds
General landscaping and decorative features
8. Considerations
Sandstone is naturally porous and may absorb moisture or staining if left untreated. Sealing can help reduce this.
It is also softer than materials like granite, so care should be taken to avoid heavy impact or excessive loads.

INSTALLATION GUIDE โ NATURAL SANDSTONE PAVING
To ensure your project runs smoothly and achieves the best possible finish, there are several important considerations to follow when your paving arrives and throughout the installation process.
WHEN YOUR PAVING ARRIVES
When your sandstone paving is delivered, it is completely normal for the slabs to appear dusty, pale, or slightly grey. Natural Indian sandstone often looks lighter on arrival due to quarry dust and its naturally soft, pastel dry tones.
Donโt worryโthis is expected.
To reveal the true colours, we recommend lightly wetting a selection of slabs before installation. This will enhance the natural colour variation and help you plan a more balanced and consistent layout.
COLOUR BLENDING (IMPORTANT)
Each crate of paving is randomly packed and may not contain an even distribution of tones. If using multiple packs or pallets, it is essential to mix slabs from all packs during installation.
- Work from at least 3โ4 packs at the same time
- Blend slabs as you lay them, rather than completing one pack at a time
- This ensures an even distribution of colour variation across the area
Failure to mix packs can result in noticeable patches of similar tones.
As sandstone is naturally porous, the colours will gradually deepen over time as the stone absorbs moistureโthis is part of its natural character.
ORDERING YOUR PAVING
We strongly recommend ordering all paving required for your project at the same time, even if installation will be completed in stages.
Natural stone is not batch-coded, and future deliveries may come from a different layer of the quarry, resulting in noticeable variation.
If you are extending or matching an existing area, please contact us with photos and we will assist where possible.
BASE PREPARATION
- Excavate to the required depth
- Install a compacted sub-base (e.g. MOT Type 1)
- Ensure a stable, level surface with adequate drainage
A properly prepared base is essential for long-term durability.
PRIMING & INSTALLATION
As with all natural stone products, we strongly recommend using SBR, priming slurry, or ideally both.
- Apply SBR to the underside of each slab and allow it to dry
- This helps reduce moisture absorption and minimise the risk of staining or efflorescence
- Apply a priming slurry across the full underside before laying
This ensures strong adhesion to the mortar bed and promotes full contact.
Proper priming helps prevent voids beneath the slabs, which can lead to issues such as mirror staining (white marks appearing on the surface). This can be difficult to correct once installed.
LAYING THE PAVING
- Lay slabs on a full mortar bed (recommended)
- Maintain consistent joint spacing
- Ensure correct levels and falls for drainage
CUTTING & TOOLS
Always use appropriate tools when cutting natural stone:
- A suitable diamond blade
- A properly powered disc cutter designed for natural stone
Using incorrect tools may result in chipping or uneven cuts.
JOINTING
- Use a suitable mortar or jointing compound
- Ensure joints are fully filled to prevent movement
An all-weather brush-in jointing compound can make installation easier while providing excellent stability.
โ ๏ธ Dark jointing compounds may cause slight staining on lighter stone edges.
Avoid using acid-based products, as these can damage the stone.
JET WASHING
We recommend:
- Jet washing thoroughly after laying but before jointing
- Once joints are complete and cured, carry out a second clean
This helps remove dust, residue, and installation marks.
Always use moderate pressure and avoid disturbing joints.
SEALING SANDSTONE PAVING
Sealing is recommended to protect your paving and enhance its appearance.
- Natural finish sealers maintain the original look
- Colour-enhancing sealers deepen tones for a richer finish
Important guidelines:
- Do not use non-breathable, resin-based sealers within the first six months
- If sealing earlier, use a breathable natural stone sealer
- Always follow manufacturer instructions
This allows moisture and natural salts to escape during the weathering process.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Natural variation in colour and texture is normal and expected
- Stone may appear different when wet, dry, or sealed
- Proper installation is essential to avoid staining and performance issues
NEED HELP?
For further advice on installation, sealing, or aftercare, please contact our team on 01329 238150.
Laying a patio can be messy, so itโs crucial to take care when installing the slabs to avoid any staining, sheet down and board down where possible. If you notice any residue on the slabs during installation, clean it off as soon as possible. Substances like wet cement can be much harder to remove once they dry. Remember, anything that remains on the surface of a slab can seep into the stone and cause stains. Avoid using acid-based products for cleaning.
Natural stone is porous and will absorb liquids from anything left on its surface. Wet leaves, bird droppings, and moss can all create stains, and once these substances penetrate the stone, removing the stains can be very challenging.
It is recommended to seal sandstone paving to help prevent staining. Sealing also prevents excess moisture from building up within the natural stone, which can help avoid frost damage as well as the growth of moss, mould, and algae. You should seal your paving approximately 12 weeks after installation to allow enough time for the drying process to complete. If sealing is done before six to nine months, only a breathable sealer should be used.
As part of the drying process, you may notice efflorescence, which is a white or light grey powdery substance that can appear on the surface of natural stone, especially in damp or humid conditions. This is caused by natural salts and minerals coming to the surface of the slabs. Although it may look unsightly, efflorescence will not affect the structural integrity of the stone. This process usually happens within the first three to six months.
Natural stone requires annual maintenance. Using specific natural stone cleaners and black spot removers can help prolong the life of your patio. Over time, you may need to grind out the joints and redo the jointing to refresh the appearance of the patio.
