Batch information
Porcelain paving is a man-made product crafted in batches and may exhibit variations in colour and texture from batch to batch. This potential variance means that the porcelain you receive upon ordering may differ slightly from the samples sent, or our showroom displays viewed before making your purchase. To maintain product consistency, we advise against combining different sizes as these will inevitably be different batch codes. It is industry standard to allow an additional 10% on all orders.
Should you have any concerns about these variations, please reach out to our sales team for personalised guidance. We recommend keeping note of the โbatch colour codeโ labelled on the packaging of the delivered porcelain. This is a white label of the side of the pallet and also the packing of each individual slab.
While we strive to source the same batch for future orders, this isnโt guaranteed. Therefore, we encourage ordering sufficient quantities initially to maintain uniformity in your project.
Split packs
Split Packs Available
We offer split packs on selected paving products, including natural stone paving (sandstone, Limestone, slate, granite) and our best-selling 600×900 porcelain paving. This allows you to order the exact square metre coverage you need, helping you avoid the cost and waste of buying a full pack.
This option is ideal forย smaller projects, patios, pathways, or topping up an existing order.
Please note:
- Split packs are available onย selected products only
- Mixed-size porcelain paving packs cannot be split
- Delivery is included in the product price
- Orders areย securely repacked onto pallets for safe UK delivery
Ordering Advice

Help & advice
Measurement
Make sure you measure from the longest point to the longest point, side to side and front to back. Use our coverage calculator to help you know what your requirement coverage is.
Add 10% Extra
The recommended industry standard is that you add 10% extra to your total measurements to allow for cuts, wastage, breakages and spares. By placing your order with us, you confirm that you have added this 10% extra as part of your own calculations and purchase.
Minimum Order
We can sell the paving by the sqm, however, for optimal transit, we recommend ordering a minimum of 5 sqm to ensure proper pallet weight.
Coverage
The coverage for each pack size is available on all products under the โSpecificationโ section. This indicates the area that can be covered, including the recommended joint width. Additionally, we provide the pack size, which indicates the number of slabs included in each pack.
Cut of times
For both standard and premium deliveries, the cutoff time for same-day dispatch is 11 a.m. If you need your order urgently and have missed this cutoff time, please call our team, and we will let you know if there is anything we can do to assist you.

COVERAGE GUIDE
Coverage will depend on layout and joint spacing.
Please allow an additional 5โ10% for cuts and wastage.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
All images are provided for guidance only and may show the stone in different conditions, including wet, dry, or sealed.
Please note:
Sandstone appears richer and more vibrant when wet
Dry stone displays softer, lighter tones
Lighting conditions may affect the appearance
As a natural material, sandstone will vary in colour, tone, and texture from slab to slab and pack to pack. This variation is a key feature and enhances the overall character of the paving.
When your paving arrives, it may appear dusty or pale due to quarry residue. Lightly wetting the slabs will help reveal the true colour variation and assist in creating a balanced mix during installation.
Over time, sandstone will naturally weather, further enhancing its tones and character.
Sealing is recommended to protect against staining and can either enhance the colour or maintain a natural finish, depending on the product used.
INSTALLATION GUIDE โ NATURAL SANDSTONE PAVING
To ensure your project runs smoothly and achieves the best possible finish, there are several important considerations to follow when your paving arrives and throughout the installation process.
WHEN YOUR PAVING ARRIVES
When your sandstone paving is delivered, it is completely normal for the slabs to appear dusty, pale, or slightly grey. Natural Indian sandstone often looks lighter on arrival due to quarry dust and its naturally soft, pastel dry tones.
Donโt worryโthis is expected.
To reveal the true colours, we recommend lightly wetting a selection of slabs before installation. This will enhance the natural colour variation and help you plan a more balanced and consistent layout.
COLOUR BLENDING (IMPORTANT)
Each crate of paving is randomly packed and may not contain an even distribution of tones. If using multiple packs or pallets, it is essential to mix slabs from all packs during installation.
- Work from at least 3โ4 packs at the same time
- Blend slabs as you lay them, rather than completing one pack at a time
- This ensures an even distribution of colour variation across the area
Failure to mix packs can result in noticeable patches of similar tones.
As sandstone is naturally porous, the colours will gradually deepen over time as the stone absorbs moistureโthis is part of its natural character.
ORDERING YOUR PAVING
We strongly recommend ordering all paving required for your project at the same time, even if installation will be completed in stages.
Natural stone is not batch-coded, and future deliveries may come from a different layer of the quarry, resulting in noticeable variation.
If you are extending or matching an existing area, please contact us with photos and we will assist where possible.
BASE PREPARATION
- Excavate to the required depth
- Install a compacted sub-base (e.g. MOT Type 1)
- Ensure a stable, level surface with adequate drainage
A properly prepared base is essential for long-term durability.
PRIMING & INSTALLATION
As with all natural stone products, we strongly recommend using SBR, priming slurry, or ideally both.
- Apply SBR to the underside of each slab and allow it to dry
- This helps reduce moisture absorption and minimise the risk of staining or efflorescence
- Apply a priming slurry across the full underside before laying
This ensures strong adhesion to the mortar bed and promotes full contact.
Proper priming helps prevent voids beneath the slabs, which can lead to issues such as mirror staining (white marks appearing on the surface). This can be difficult to correct once installed.
LAYING THE PAVING
- Lay slabs on a full mortar bed (recommended)
- Maintain consistent joint spacing
- Ensure correct levels and falls for drainage
CUTTING & TOOLS
Always use appropriate tools when cutting natural stone:
- A suitable diamond blade
- A properly powered disc cutter designed for natural stone
Using incorrect tools may result in chipping or uneven cuts.
JOINTING
- Use a suitable mortar or jointing compound
- Ensure joints are fully filled to prevent movement
An all-weather brush-in jointing compound can make installation easier while providing excellent stability.
โ ๏ธ Dark jointing compounds may cause slight staining on lighter stone edges.
Avoid using acid-based products, as these can damage the stone.
JET WASHING
We recommend:
- Jet washing thoroughly after laying but before jointing
- Once joints are complete and cured, carry out a second clean
This helps remove dust, residue, and installation marks.
Always use moderate pressure and avoid disturbing joints.
SEALING SANDSTONE PAVING
Sealing is recommended to protect your paving and enhance its appearance.
- Natural finish sealers maintain the original look
- Colour-enhancing sealers deepen tones for a richer finish
Important guidelines:
- Do not use non-breathable, resin-based sealers within the first six months
- If sealing earlier, use a breathable natural stone sealer
- Always follow manufacturer instructions
This allows moisture and natural salts to escape during the weathering process.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Natural variation in colour and texture is normal and expected
- Stone may appear different when wet, dry, or sealed
- Proper installation is essential to avoid staining and performance issues
NEED HELP?
For further advice on installation, sealing, or aftercare, please contact our team on 01329 238150.
Laying a patio can get messy and itโs important to take as much care as possible when laying the slabs to ensure that no staining occurs to the slabs during installation.
If you notice any residue on the slabs when installing, be sure to clean it off ASAP as things such as wet cement will be much tougher to remove once dried. Remember that anything that remains on the surface of a slab can seep into the stone and leave a stain.
Natural stone is porous and will absorb liquid from anything left on the surface. Wet leaves, bird droppings, and moss can all leave stains and once drawn into the surface of your stone, removing stains can be very tricky. Sealing will also prevent excess moisture from building up within natural stone which will help to prevent frost damage as well as the growth of moss, mold, and algae. It is recommended to seal your paving approx 12 weeks after installation is complete as this will allow enough time for the drying-out process to complete.
As part of the drying process, you may find efflorescence coming through the is a white/light grey powdery substance that can appear on the surface of natural stone, especially in damp or humid conditions. This is caused by natural salts and minerals which exposed to the surface of the slabs. Although it can look unsightly, it will not affect the structural integrity of the stone.
