Batch information

Porcelain paving is a man-made product crafted in batches and may exhibit variations in colour and texture from batch to batch. This potential variance means that the porcelain you receive upon ordering may differ slightly from the samples sent, or our showroom displays viewed before making your purchase. To maintain product consistency, we advise against combining different sizes as these will inevitably be different batch codes. It is industry standard to allow an additional 10% on all orders.

Should you have any concerns about these variations, please reach out to our sales team for personalised guidance. We recommend keeping note of the โ€˜batch colour codeโ€™ labelled on the packaging of the delivered porcelain. This is a white label of the side of the pallet and also the packing of each individual slab.

While we strive to source the same batch for future orders, this isnโ€™t guaranteed. Therefore, we encourage ordering sufficient quantities initially to maintain uniformity in your project.

Split packs
Split Packs Available

We offer split packs on selected paving products, including natural stone paving (sandstone, Limestone, slate, granite) and our best-selling 600×900 porcelain paving. This allows you to order the exact square metre coverage you need, helping you avoid the cost and waste of buying a full pack.

This option is ideal forย smaller projects, patios, pathways, or topping up an existing order.

Please note:

  • Split packs are available onย selected products only
  • Mixed-size porcelain paving packs cannot be split
  • Delivery is included in the product price
  • Orders areย securely repacked onto pallets for safe UK delivery
Ordering Advice

When calculating how much paving you need, we recommend addingย 10% extra coverageย to allow forย cuts, breakages, and spare slabsย during installation.

Mixed-size project packs can only beย split by square metre, not by individual slab sizes.

Why Customers Choose Split Packs

โœ”ย Buy only what you need โ€“ no full pack required
โœ”ย Perfect for small patios, garden paths, and extensions
โœ”ย Secure pallet delivery included

Help & advice

Measurement

Make sure you measure from the longest point to the longest point, side to side and front to back. Use our coverage calculator to help you know what your requirement coverage is.

Add 10% Extra

The recommended industry standard is that you add 10% extra to your total measurements to allow for cuts, wastage, breakages and spares. By placing your order with us, you confirm that you have added this 10% extra as part of your own calculations and purchase.

Minimum Order

We can sell the paving by the sqm, however, for optimal transit, we recommend ordering a minimum of 5 sqm to ensure proper pallet weight.

Coverage

The coverage for each pack size is available on all products under the โ€˜Specificationโ€™ section. This indicates the area that can be covered, including the recommended joint width. Additionally, we provide the pack size, which indicates the number of slabs included in each pack.

Cut of times

For both standard and premium deliveries, the cutoff time for same-day dispatch is 11 a.m. If you need your order urgently and have missed this cutoff time, please call our team, and we will let you know if there is anything we can do to assist you.

Large Orders

Our website showcases all current promotions and discounts, reflecting our commitment to providing the best prices possible. For larger orders, we invite you to call us at 01329 774989, where our dedicated team may be able to offer additional savings.

Samples

We provide a sample service for all our paving products, allowing you to experience the materials before placing an order. You can find this option at the bottom of each product page or on our dedicated samples page.

Aosta White porcelain paving slabs 600×900 feature a clean white tone with a smooth matte finish. These contemporary porcelain slabs create a bright, modern patio and are ideal for stylish garden landscaping.

Porcelain paving is one of the most popular modern choices for UK patios, garden terraces, and outdoor living areas. Manufactured using refined clay and natural minerals fired at extremely high temperatures, porcelain tiles are exceptionally strong, non-porous, and low-maintenance โ€” offering both performance and aesthetic appeal.

Perfect for contemporary outdoor spaces, porcelain paving slabs provide a clean, sleek look that complements both traditional and modern garden designs.

Before beginning your project, itโ€™s recommended to order 10โ€“15% more porcelain paving than your calculated area to allow for cuts, waste, or unexpected breakages during installation.

1. Aesthetic Appeal

Modern Design & Colours:
Porcelain paving is available in a wide variety of colours and finishes โ€” from soft neutral greys and creams to rich anthracites and warm stone tones. This versatility allows you to create your ideal outdoor aesthetic, whether minimalist, rustic, or luxurious.

Premium Finish:
Unlike natural stone, porcelain tiles offer a consistent tone and texture across every slab. Their precision-cut edges and smooth, rectified surfaces make them perfect for modern patios, pool areas, and dining spaces.

2. Exceptional Durability

Porcelain paving is known for its outstanding strength and resistance to wear. Each tile is vitrified during manufacturing, giving it superior density and making it impervious to water, frost, and temperature changes โ€” ideal for the unpredictable UK climate.

Itโ€™s also resistant to fading, scratching, and staining, maintaining its appearance for many years with minimal upkeep.

โ€“ Suitable for high-traffic areas, driveways (with appropriate thickness), and residential patios.

3. Slip Resistance

Outdoor porcelain paving is designed with a textured, anti-slip surface โ€” typically rated R11 or higher โ€” ensuring safe use around pools, paths, and wet areas. This makes it a reliable option for families and commercial outdoor spaces alike.

4. Low Maintenance

One of porcelain pavingโ€™s biggest advantages is its low-maintenance nature. Unlike natural stone, porcelain is non-porous, meaning it wonโ€™t absorb moisture, dirt, or algae.

Cleaning is quick and easy โ€” a simple wash with warm water and a mild detergent keeps the tiles looking their best. Thereโ€™s no need for sealing, saving time and money over the lifespan of your patio.

5. Cost-Effective Long-Term Investment

While porcelain paving can have a higher initial cost than concrete or sandstone, its longevity, durability, and minimal maintenance make it a cost-effective choice in the long run.

It retains its colour and texture year after year, requiring little upkeep compared to natural stone alternatives.

6. Eco-Friendly Manufacturing

Modern porcelain paving is produced using sustainable manufacturing processes, with low water absorption rates and recyclable materials. Its durability means fewer replacements over time, reducing environmental impact.

7. Popular Applications

โ€“ Garden patios and terraces
โ€“ Outdoor dining and entertainment areas
โ€“ Pool surrounds and wet zones
โ€“ Balconies, courtyards, and rooftop spaces
โ€“ Pathways and feature landscaping

With its refined finish and durable surface, porcelain paving is increasingly used in both residential and commercial landscaping across the UK.

8. Key Considerations

โ€“ Installation: Always use a porcelain primer/slurry for adhesionโ€”porcelain is non-porous.
โ€“ Cutting: Use a wet diamond blade cutter for clean edges.
โ€“ Grouting: Choose a porcelain-specific grout to prevent staining.
โ€“ Batch Codes: Order sufficient tiles from the same batch to ensure colour consistency.

In summary, Porcelain Paving offers the perfect blend of style, performance, and practicality. Its sleek appearance, durability, and easy maintenance make it ideal for modern UK gardens and patios.

With proper installation and minimal upkeep, porcelain patio tiles will stay looking beautiful and perform flawlessly for years to come.

How to Lay Porcelain Paving Slabs

Correct installation is essential for a long-lasting porcelain paving patio. Outdoor porcelain paving should be laid onto a stable, well-compacted base, on a full mortar bed, with the underside of every tile coated with a suitable porcelain primer or slurry primer. If you are laying the popular format, browse our 600mm x 900mm porcelain paving range.

1. Prepare the sub-base for porcelain paving

Excavate to the required depth and install a well-compacted Type 1 sub-base suitable for the site conditions and intended use. Plan the finished levels before laying and create a consistent fall away from buildings so surface water can drain correctly.

2. Lay porcelain paving on a full mortar bed

Porcelain paving slabs should be supported across the whole underside of the tile. Lay them on a full, consistent mortar bed rather than spot bedding. Avoid leaving voids beneath the paving, as inadequate support can contribute to movement or cracking.

3. Does porcelain paving need primer?

Yes. Porcelain has extremely low water absorption, so ordinary mortar does not readily bond to the back of the tile. Coat the entire underside immediately before laying with a suitable porcelain paving primer or slurry primer, following the primer manufacturer's instructions.

4. Create the correct fall and drainage

Porcelain is virtually non-porous, so rainwater needs to run off the finished surface. Lay the patio to a suitable, consistent fall and make sure water is directed away from buildings and towards an appropriate drainage point.

5. Leave consistent joints between porcelain slabs

Do not butt porcelain tiles tightly together. Use suitable spacers where required and maintain consistent joints across the patio. The joint width must also be compatible with the outdoor grout or jointing product you intend to use.

6. How to cut 20mm porcelain paving

Outdoor 20mm porcelain is extremely hard. Use suitable cutting equipment and a quality diamond porcelain cutting blade. Support the tile correctly, measure cuts carefully and use the appropriate eye, hearing and respiratory protection when cutting.

7. Grouting and jointing porcelain paving

Allow the installation to cure sufficiently before jointing. Use a porcelain grout or jointing compound specifically suitable for exterior porcelain paving and the chosen joint width. Work cleanly and remove residue from the face of the tiles in accordance with the product manufacturer's instructions.

Before laying your porcelain paving

Check the paving before installation and open several packs so tiles can be mixed as work progresses. Porcelain is batch coded and natural-looking printed designs include intentional variation in tone and pattern. Different production batches can also vary, so we recommend ordering the complete project requirement together, including an allowance for cuts, selection and wastage.

Important: Installation requirements vary with ground conditions, drainage, site use and the products being used. If you are unsure, use an experienced paving installer and follow the instructions supplied with your bedding, primer and jointing products.

How to Clean and Maintain Porcelain Paving

Outdoor porcelain paving is popular because it requires relatively little ongoing maintenance. Its very low water absorption makes the surface highly resistant to moisture, frost and everyday staining, but regular cleaning will keep a porcelain patio looking its best.

How to clean porcelain paving

Sweep the patio regularly to remove leaves, soil and loose garden debris. For routine washing, use clean warm water with a cleaner suitable for porcelain paving where required. Rinse the surface thoroughly so loosened dirt and cleaning residue are removed.

Removing algae, dirt and stubborn marks

For heavier dirt, algae or organic staining, use a specialist porcelain paving cleaner. Follow the cleaner manufacturer's dilution and application instructions and test any unfamiliar product on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Can you pressure wash porcelain paving?

Yes, porcelain paving can generally be pressure washed. Use sensible pressure and keep the nozzle moving. Avoid concentrating a powerful jet directly into the joints, as this may damage or dislodge some grout and jointing products.

Does porcelain paving need sealing?

Porcelain paving does not normally need to be sealed. Unlike porous natural stone, porcelain has extremely low water absorption. Applying an unnecessary sealer can leave unwanted surface residue, so only use a treatment specifically recommended for the porcelain product and purpose.

Removing grout or installation residue

Mortar, grout and installation residue should be removed as work progresses rather than being allowed to harden on the tile face. If a specialist post-installation cleaner is required, make sure it is suitable for porcelain and compatible with the grout or jointing material.

Winter maintenance for porcelain patios

Outdoor porcelain is highly frost resistant. During autumn and winter, remove fallen leaves and organic debris regularly, as prolonged debris can encourage algae and make any outdoor surface more slippery.

Porcelain paving care FAQs

Is porcelain paving low maintenance?
Yes. Routine sweeping and occasional washing are normally sufficient, with specialist cleaning used for stubborn marks when required.

Can porcelain paving stain?
Porcelain is highly stain resistant, but spills and installation residues should still be cleaned promptly rather than left on the surface.

Should I use brick acid on porcelain paving?
Do not use a cleaner simply because it is described as brick or patio acid. Use a cleaning product specifically confirmed as suitable for porcelain and for the type of residue being removed, and follow its instructions carefully.
