Batch information

Porcelain paving is a man-made product crafted in batches and may exhibit variations in colour and texture from batch to batch. This potential variance means that the porcelain you receive upon ordering may differ slightly from the samples sent, or our showroom displays viewed before making your purchase. To maintain product consistency, we advise against combining different sizes as these will inevitably be different batch codes. It is industry standard to allow an additional 10% on all orders.

Should you have any concerns about these variations, please reach out to our sales team for personalised guidance. We recommend keeping note of the โ€˜batch colour codeโ€™ labelled on the packaging of the delivered porcelain. This is a white label of the side of the pallet and also the packing of each individual slab.

While we strive to source the same batch for future orders, this isnโ€™t guaranteed. Therefore, we encourage ordering sufficient quantities initially to maintain uniformity in your project.

Split packs
Split Packs Available

We offer split packs on selected paving products, including natural stone paving (sandstone, Limestone, slate, granite) and our best-selling 600×900 porcelain paving. This allows you to order the exact square metre coverage you need, helping you avoid the cost and waste of buying a full pack.

This option is ideal forย smaller projects, patios, pathways, or topping up an existing order.

Please note:

  • Split packs are available onย selected products only
  • Mixed-size porcelain paving packs cannot be split
  • Delivery is included in the product price
  • Orders areย securely repacked onto pallets for safe UK delivery
Ordering Advice

When calculating how much paving you need, we recommend addingย 10% extra coverageย to allow forย cuts, breakages, and spare slabsย during installation.

Mixed-size project packs can only beย split by square metre, not by individual slab sizes.

Why Customers Choose Split Packs

Help & advice

Measurement

Make sure you measure from the longest point to the longest point, side to side and front to back. Use our coverage calculator to help you know what your requirement coverage is.

Add 10% Extra

The recommended industry standard is that you add 10% extra to your total measurements to allow for cuts, wastage, breakages and spares. By placing your order with us, you confirm that you have added this 10% extra as part of your own calculations and purchase.

Minimum Order

We can sell the paving by the sqm, however, for optimal transit, we recommend ordering a minimum of 5 sqm to ensure proper pallet weight.

Coverage

The coverage for each pack size is available on all products under the โ€˜Specificationโ€™ section. This indicates the area that can be covered, including the recommended joint width. Additionally, we provide the pack size, which indicates the number of slabs included in each pack.

Cut of times

For both standard and premium deliveries, the cutoff time for same-day dispatch is 11 a.m. If you need your order urgently and have missed this cutoff time, please call our team, and we will let you know if there is anything we can do to assist you.

Large Orders

Our website showcases all current promotions and discounts, reflecting our commitment to providing the best prices possible. For larger orders, we invite you to call us at 01329 774989, where our dedicated team may be able to offer additional savings.

Samples

We provide a sample service for all our paving products, allowing you to experience the materials before placing an order. You can find this option at the bottom of each product page or on our dedicated samples page.

Our Blue/Black Granite cobble setts make a perfect tribute to natural paving as edging or unique design. Perfect for adding depth and height or creating features in your garden. Also available in Paving Packs.

Premium Quality & Durability
Granite cobble setts are quarried from 100% natural granite and precision-cut for consistent size and shape. Their dense, weather-resistant composition ensures they can withstand frost, rain, and heavy traffic without cracking or deteriorating. The naturally textured surface enhances traction, making them a safe choice for both residential and commercial outdoor spaces across the UK.

Key Benefits of Granite Cobble Setts:

โœ… Durable & Weather-Resistant
โœ… Naturally Textured, Non-Slip Surface
โœ… Low Maintenance
โœ… Frost & Impact Resistant
โœ… Elegant, Timeless Design

1. Aesthetic Appeal
Natural Colours & variable:
Silver Granite cobble setts are available in a range of natural shades, from soft greys and earthy tones to deeper charcoals and blacks. The subtle variables in each sett create a visually appealing, organic look that complements both modern and traditional landscapes.

Unique Textured Finish:
Unlike manufactured alternatives, natural granite retains its unique character. The lightly textured surface enhances grip while showcasing the stoneโ€™s natural grain and tonal variable, creating a refined, high-quality finish for driveways, patios, and pathways.

2. Exceptional Durability
Granite cobbles are renowned for their strength, density, and long-lasting performance. Resistant to chipping, scratching, and staining, they maintain their appearance for decadesโ€”even under heavy vehicle or pedestrian traffic. Their natural imperviousness to water, frost, and temperature fluctuations makes them ideal for the UK climate.

3. Safety & Slip Resistance
The textured surface provides inherent traction, making cobble setts a safe choice for wet or high-traffic areas such as driveways, pool surrounds, and garden pathways.

4. Long-Term Value
Though the initial investment may be higher than other materials, granite cobble setts offer unmatched longevity and minimal maintenance, delivering excellent long-term value. Their natural beauty, strength, and durability make them a practical and stylish choice for any outdoor project.

5. Environmentally Friendly
Granite is a natural, low-impact material. Its long lifespan reduces the need for replacements, and responsibly sourced granite supports sustainable landscaping practices.

6. Popular Applications

  • Driveways and vehicle access areas

  • Garden pathways and courtyards

  • Patios and terraces

  • Pool surrounds and wet zones

  • Commercial outdoor spaces

7. Key Considerations
Installation: Ensure a fully level, stable base; cobbles are heavy and rigid.
Cutting & Shaping: Use appropriate stone-cutting tools for precise edges.
Jointing: Use natural stone-compatible grout to maintain appearance and durability.
Batch Selection: Granite is naturalโ€”select sufficient setts from the same batch for consistent colour and patterning.

For best results, order 10โ€“15% extra to account for cuts, waste, or unforeseen breakages during installation.

Installing Granite Cobble Setts โ€“ Professional Tips for a Durable, Beautiful Finish

Installing granite cobble setts requires careful preparation and attention to detail to achieve a long-lasting, visually striking finish. By following the right techniques, you can ensure your cobble driveway, patio, or pathway is both durable and low-maintenance.

1. Preparing Your Granite Cobble Setts

When your granite cobbles arrive, they may appear dusty or slightly dull. This is completely normal and does not indicate a defect. Lightly wetting the surface of the cobbles before installation can help reveal their natural colours and subtle variables, ensuring a more vibrant and consistent look across your project.

If your order comes on multiple pallets, mix cobbles from each pallet during installation. This prevents noticeable colour bands and creates a balanced, natural appearance for the entire paved area.

2. Using a Priming Slurry for Strong Adhesion

For long-lasting stability, apply a priming slurry (SBR or suitable primer) to the underside of each cobble. This forms a protective layer between the stone and the mortar or bedding base, preventing natural salts and minerals from leaching through over time. Priming ensures your cobbles stay firmly in place and maintain their durability for decades.

3. Cutting Granite Cobble Setts

To achieve precise edges around borders, corners, or obstacles, use a diamond-tipped blade with a suitable stone-cutting tool. Cut slowly and carefully to minimize the risk of chipping or cracking, ensuring professional-looking joints and a smooth, clean finish.

4. Jointing Your Cobble Surface

For stable, long-lasting joints, use an all-weather brush-in jointing compound. This modern alternative to traditional sand provides excellent stability and prevents movement between the setts. Avoid acid-based cleaners after installation, as they can damage granite surfaces. For regular cleaning, simply use water or a pH-neutral detergent to maintain the natural beauty of your cobbles.

5. Key Tips for a Beautiful, Long-Lasting Granite Cobble Surface

โœ… Lightly wet cobbles before installation to enhance their natural colour.
โœ… Mix cobbles from multiple pallets for even colour distribution.
โœ… Apply a priming slurry to the underside of each sett for adhesion and protection.
โœ… Cut carefully with a diamond-tipped blade for precise edges.
โœ… Use all-weather brush-in jointing compound for stable, durable joints.
โœ… Avoid acidic cleaners to protect the graniteโ€™s surface.

Caring for Your Granite Cobble Setts โ€“ Cleaning, Sealing, and Maintenance Tips

Installing granite cobble setts can be a messy process, so itโ€™s important to take care during installation to prevent staining. Any residue such as wet mortar, cement, or debris should be cleaned immediately. Once dried, these substances can be difficult to remove and may leave marks on the granite surface.

Granite is naturally dense and less porous than other stones, but it can still absorb dirt, organic matter, or moisture if left untreated. Spills, wet leaves, moss, or bird droppings can all cause staining over time. To protect your cobbles, it is recommended to seal them approximately 12 weeks after installation. Sealing helps prevent moisture penetration, reduces the risk of frost damage, and inhibits moss, mould, and algae growth.

During the curing and drying period, you may notice efflorescence, which appears as a white or light grey powder on the surface. This occurs when natural salts within the granite are drawn to the surface, particularly in damp or humid conditions. While it can look unsightly, efflorescence does not compromise the strength or durability of your cobble setts.

By following these simple steps, your granite cobble driveway, patio, or pathway will remain clean, durable, and visually appealing for many years.
